Chris Jones makes bold promise about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ future

We all have to agree that the Kansas City Chiefs season was truly disappointing. Their ultimate goal at the start was to reach the Super Bowl, but everything ended in crisis with a 6-11 record, missing the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2014.

Many fans and analysts believe that the Chiefs dynasty led by Patrick Mahomes has come to an end, but one of the locker-room leaders in Kansas City has sent a message to the entire NFL-making a promise he may not be able to keep.

Chris Jones’ message ahead of Super Bowl LX

The team’s confidence hasn’t gone anywhere. You only have to look at the words posted by Chris Jones, the Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle, just before the start of Super Bowl LX, where he makes it crystal clear that they are already thinking about returning to the Super Bowl.

“Took a year off, we will be back to it next year!” Jones wrote in an X post.

The Kansas City Chiefs story changed radically when Patrick Mahomes arrived and became the starter in 2018, leading to five Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl championships. However, this is the lowest point the NFL franchise has hit in that era.

Now, in 2026 NFL offseason, they not only have to improve in many areas as a team, but they must also wait and see how Mahomes returns from the ACL injury (anterior cruciate ligament) he suffered in Week 15.

The message fills the entire Chiefs Kingdom with hope, but the reality is far from encouraging: the NFL keeps moving forward, teams are becoming more competitive, and Kansas City has numerous needs and positions that require significant upgrades.
