Packers May Lose Adam Stenavich After Hiring Jonathan Gannon: Report

The Green Bay Packers already lost their defensive coordinator when the Miami Dolphins hired Jeff Hafley to be the new head coach, and now Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is drawing serious interest from a different AFC team.

After hiring Robert Saleh as their new head coach, the Tennessee Titans are interested in Stenavich to potentially come on board with more responsibilities than he currently has in Green Bay.

“The Titans plan to interview Kliff Kingsbury and Adam Stenavich on Monday for their offensive coordinator job, per sources,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported on Sunday, January 25.

“Looks like teams are trying to lure out Stenavich with play calling opportunities,” Ted Nguyen of The Athletic added in a repost of Pelissero’s initial report.

Adam Stenavich Won’t Get Chance to Call Plays With Packers

Stenavich started in Green Bay as the offensive line coach in 2019 when Matt LaFleur took over as head coach. LaFleur promoted Stenavich to O-line coach/run-game coordinator in 2021.

Stenavich then became offensive coordinator in 2022, a position he has held over the last four seasons. However, LaFleur has been the play-caller for that entire time.

At 43 years old, the next step for Stenavich is to move into a play-calling role as the offensive coordinator, which probably isn’t going to happen with the Packers at any point during LaFleur’s tenure. LaFleur was under contract through 2026 before inking a multiyear extension with Green Bay earlier this month.

The Titans offer a unique opportunity with rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, heading into his second professional season. A successful turnaround of that offense could position Stenavich for a head coaching position of his own two or three seasons down the line.

Packers Hired Jonathan Gannon to Replace Jeff Hafley as Defensive Coordinator

Should Stenavich end up leaving Green Bay for Tennessee, or elsewhere, the Packers will restart again with new coordinators on both sides of the football in 2026.

The team already hired former Arizona Cardinals head coach and ex-Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon to replace Hafley as DC moving forward.

Gannon spent two years with the Eagles in 2021 and 2022. Philadelphia had a dominant defensive unit in his second season, finishing the year ranked No. 2 overall. The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl that postseason, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 38-35 in the title game.

The Cardinals hired Gannon following that run, where he posted a record of 15-36 across three years at the helm in Arizona. The Cardinals went 8-9 in 2024, improving significantly over a 4-13 year to start Gannon’s career as a head coach.

However, Arizona regressed to a 3-14 record this season, and the team subsequently decided to move on from Gannon. The Cardinals’ search for a new head coach continued as of Sunday.

Gannon now inherits a Packers defense with a handful of elite talent led by pass-rusher Micah Parsons, as Gannon tries to rebuild his reputation and earn another chance as an NFL head coach somewhere down the line.
