Sheila Ford Hamp Gets Up Front With Letter To Detroit Lions Fans

The 2025 NFL season for the Detroit Lions came to a close earlier this month, bringing an end to what was not only a two-season playoff streak but also a two-year reign atop the NFC North.

That now belongs to Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears who, despite two losses to the Lions during the regular season, won the Division, advanced to the playoffs, and defeated the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Wild Card Round at Soldier Field in what was an instant postseason classic.

The Lions are now officially in offseason mode far earlier than most would have anticipated, which is not lost on team owner Sheila Ford Hamp.

She penned a letter to the devoted Lions season-ticket holders who shelled out good money to watch their team at Ford Field in which she acknowledged that the ultimate result of the season wasn’t what they wanted but also saying that major changes aren’t on the horizon.

“I want to start by thanking you for your commitment to our team and the support you show throughout the season,” she wrote. “I am always blown away by the energy you create inside Ford Field and the advantage you give our team every time we run out of the tunnel. I also want to acknowledge that our results on the field this season were not what any of us envisioned and frankly, were not good enough. While we do not believe it is a time for drastic change, this is an opportunity for us to refocus, evolve, and move forward.”

Detroit Lions Owner Sheila Ford Hamp Says She Is Proud Of The Roster

In continuing the letter to the season-ticket holders, Hamp said she’s proud of the 36 wins they’ve built up over the last three seasons but remains steadfast in the ultimate goal of bringing an elusive Super Bowl championship to Detroit for the first time.

“I am proud of the roster we have built and the 36 wins we have accumulated over the last three seasons,” Hamp explained. “That success doesn’t happen by accident, but it also does not guarantee future success. It is incumbent upon us to continue growing toward our ultimate goal of bringing a championship to all of you and the city of Detroit.”

“I can assure you that we are committed to looking at everything we do to ensure we are performing at the highest level. Through conversations with Rod, Brad and Dan, we are all aligned with this thinking and have already started meetings to address how we move forward. We are excited for what 2026 will bring and some of the new elements we will introduce for all of you, our most loyal fans. Thank you again for your commitment. Go Lions!”

Detroit Finished The 2025 Season With a 9-8 Record

The good news for the Lions is that the accumulated their fourth straight winning season, which hadn’t been achieved in decades.

The bad news is that, despite two wins over offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears, they suffered too many costly losses, including a devastating setback to the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day that sealed their postseason fate.
