Cowboys sign 9 players to reserve/future contracts for 2026

The Dallas Cowboys have signed the following players to reserve/future contracts:

  • WR Parris Campbell
  • WR Traeshon Holden
  • RB Israel Abanikanda
  • OL Nick Leverett
  • OL Marcellus Johnson
  • DE Isaiah Land
  • DE Adedayo Odeleye
  • DB Zion Childress
  • S Julius Wood

An NFL reserve/future contract is a non-guaranteed, one-year deal signed by players (usually practice squad members or free agents) after the regular season, locking them in for the next league year without affecting the current salary cap or 53-man roster, allowing them to join the 90-man offseason roster to compete in training camp for a final spot, functioning as a low-risk way for teams to secure developmental talent.

All nine players spent time on the team’s practice squad in 2025.

Wide receiver Traeshon Holden, a training camp fan favorite, returns to the 90-man roster.

Veteran wideout Parris Campbell initially signed in free agency in March, then was placed on Injured Reserve back in August with an MCL sprain, returned to the practice squad in late September, and played in Week 6 at the Carolina Panthers.

Cornerback Zion Childress and offensive lineman Nick Leverett also appeared in games this past season, with Leverett having been elevated from the practice squad for Week 18 at the New York Giants and Childress, who appeared in three games against the Giants (Week 2), Chicago Bears (Week 3), and Arizona Cardinals (Week 9).
