Chargers’ Derwin James, Otito Ogbonnia fined for hits on Bengals’ Chase Brown, Joe Burrow

Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James was fined $16,883 for unnecessary roughness for a horse-collar tackle of Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown during the first quarter of Sunday night’s Week 11 game at SoFi Stadium, the NFL announced.

Earlier this season, James was suspended without pay for one game for “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players.”

In addition, Chargers defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia was fined $5,915 for landing with his full body weight on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow during the fourth quarter.

Ogbonnia was penalized for roughing the passer. Moments later, Burrow became the NFL’s first 3,000-yard passer this season.
