Chiefs fans only just realizing eerie similarity between Mahomes and his backup

Chris Oladokun bears an uncanny resemblance to Patrick Mahomes, according to fans

NFL fans have claimed that Chris Oladokun sounds extremely similar to Patrick Mahomes after hearing the quarterback speak to reporters amid an injury crisis at the Kansas City Chiefs.

Oladokun made his first NFL start on Christmas Day and threw for 66 yards and one touchdown in a 20-13 defeat to the Denver Broncos. Mahomes was ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, and backup quarterback Gardner Minshew suffered a season-ending injury the following week.

After making his first appearance of the season, Oladokun returned to the locker room, and there was a supportive text from Mahomes waiting for him. Oladokun and Mahomes share a close relationship, and after speaking with reporters, fans believe they have even more in common.

Fans joked that it sounded like Mahomes speaking when closing their eyes, claiming that the two quarterbacks sound similar. “Cloning project is going better than expected,” one fan joked on X.

“Has Mahomes been working with Brady’s clone company?” Another asked. “His movements on the field are just like Mahomes too. It’s weird,” a third wrote.

“Nah this is tripping me out, close your eyes and it’s literally Patrick Mahomes at the podium. Same cadence, same pauses, same little inflections, Kansas City really said copy and paste,” another added.

Oladokun never expected to play this season, but after two quickfire injuries, the Chiefs turned to the 28-year-old. “You see Gardner go down, and I hate it for him,” Oladokun said after his first appearance last week.

“And the next thing my mind went to is, ‘I’ve got to rally the troops now and go win a football game.’ Those guys out there, they battled their (tails) off, and I can’t say enough good things.

“You’re out there, and my first (NFL) completion is to Travis Kelce — (I’ve) built a great relationship with him over the last couple of years, but if you would have told me (that) my first completion in the NFL was going to be to him, (I) probably would have laughed at you.”

Oladokun and Travis Kelce share a close relationship at the Chiefs

Oladokun shares a close relationship with Kelce and Mahomes, referring to the latter as big brother. However, he was extremely grateful for Kelce when making his first NFL start against the Broncos.

“I mean, yeah, he’s the greatest tight end of all time,” Oladokun said of Kelce. “I’d be a fool to not lean on him a little bit.

“He was just great the whole game, even after like a quarter, I think there’s one quarter where he didn’t have a reception, he’s still on the sideline, in my ear, telling me that we’re going to get this thing going. I can’t say enough good things about Trav (Travis Kelce). So he’s the best.”

Kelce led the Chiefs in receiving yards on Christmas Day, hauling in five catches for 36 yards. However, the Chiefs suffered another loss, having already been eliminated from playoff contention.
