Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first loss of the 2024 NFL season in Week 11 after falling to the Buffalo Bills 30-21 last Sunday afternoon
. With the Chiefs at the Buffalo one-yard line at the 7:53 mark of the final quarter, Mahomes hit tight end Noah Gray for a short touchdown pass to decrease the Bills’ lead to 23-21.
In celebration, the three-time Super Bowl MVP gave the finger guns gesture using both of his hands.
The NFL did not like this celebratory decision from who many people dub the face of the league. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Mahomes was hit with a fine of $14,069 on Saturday for his “violent gesture.”
“The NFL fined Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct (violent gesture) as he celebrated a touchdown pass last week in Buffalo,” Pelissero wrote on X.

Along with Mahomes, Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones was also fined $11,255 for grabbing ahold of Bills running back Ty Johnson’s facemask, a play that went uncalled by the officials.
Mahomes finished the loss to Buffalo with a decent stat line, completing 23-of-33 passes for 196 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. However, his second pick of the game came in a critical spot when Kansas City, now down nine, was on the verge of scoring with just over a minute to play.
The Chiefs still sit atop the AFC standings despite the loss, holding a 9-1 record on the season. But Josh Allen and the Bills are right on their tail at 9-2. Kansas City will have a chance to bounce back in Week 12 as they head to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face the 3-7 Carolina Panthers at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
