Wide receiver Nikko Remigio, who has started as the Chiefs’ kick and punt returner throughout this season, was added to season-ending injured reserve on Thursday, hours before kickoff of a Christmas matchup with the Denver Broncos.
Remigio is the third Chiefs wide receiver to go on injured reserve in the last two days, after Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton were ruled out for the season due to concussions suffered during a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
He was added to the injury report Tuesday due to a knee injury.
With Remigio heading to injured reserve, Kansas City activated practice squad wide receiver Jason Brownlee to the active roster for Thursday’s game.
Remigio has 29 returns for 741 return yards.
Kansas City also said the team signed practice squad linebacker Cole Christiansen to an active roster contract and activated tackle Matt Waletzko via standard elevation.
