The Chiefs announced Wednesday that cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson and wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton each were placed on injured reserve.
Rice and Thornton suffered concussions in Kansas City’s Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and neither played against the Tennessee Titans in Sunday’s 26-9 loss.
It’s the second year in a row Rice has ended the year on injured reserve, after he suffered a significant knee injury that derailed his 2024 season.
McDuffie has missed multiple games after hyperextending his knee in the first quarter of Kansas City’s Week 14 loss to the Houston Texans. Watson has dealt with a hamstring injury in recent weeks.
In corresponding moves, the Chiefs signed defensive end Ethan Downs, cornerback Melvin Smith and defensive end Tyreke Smith to active roster contracts from the practice squad.
Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson has also been activated from injured reserve. Johnson has yet to play a game this season.
