CeeDee Lamb injury updates: Latest on Cowboys WR’s status for Week 12 game vs. Commanders

CeeDee Lamb injury update: Latest on Cowboys WR status for Week 12

The Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season has been an exercise in Murphy’s Law. Anything that can go wrong, has gone wrong — and an injury to CeeDee Lamb is only the latest entrant on the growing list.

Lamb played Monday after he appeared on the team’s injury report ahead of its Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans, but an uneven start to the practice week has his Week 12 status in jeopardy. Injuries have only added to the disappointment in Dallas, which has taken a major step back after dominating on offense all throughout 2023.

Now, with just seven games to go, it’s a mystery whether the Cowboys will begin to protect their players ahead of next season. Lamb’s Week 12 status can give a ton of insight into the team’s plans moving forward. Here is the latest on Lamb ahead of the weekend.

CeeDee Lamb injury update

Lamb kicked off his practice week with a limited session, but was downgraded to a DNP on Thursday. That’s an alarming reality for the star receiver, who has been dealing with a back and foot injury.

The focus now shifts to Friday, which will be an important practice for Lamb if he’s going to play on Sunday. A short week has complicated matters for Dallas and its playoff dreams essentially coming to an end makes the situation even worse. The injury wasn’t initially considered to be of high concern for head coach Mike McCarthy, but the downgrade in practice participation could change the coach’s tone this week.

If the Cowboys want to protect their investment in Lamb, it could make sense to keep him out of action against the Commanders.

When was CeeDee Lamb injured?

Lamb’s injury seemingly occurred at a Cowboys practice on Nov. 16. The receiver popped up on the injury report and was listed as questionable for the team’s Monday night matchup against the Texans in Week 11. He ended up playing and turned in a solid performance, collecting 8-of-12 targets for 93 yards.

CeeDee Lamb stats

After a career year in 2023, Lamb is in the same boat as the rest of his Cowboys teammates in 2024. The 25-year-old has 67 receptions, 774 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games this season, which is fairly disappointing after he turned in 135 catches, 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns a year ago. Regardless, Lamb remains one of the league’s best receivers and will continue to shine bright in Dallas.
