The Cincinnati Bengals might not wait until the offseason to make a decision on head coach Zac Taylor.
Cincinnati hired Taylor as its head coach back in 2019. Although he led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance in his third season, the reality is the past two years haven’t been good enough. As of now, the Bengals are 4-9 heading into their Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins.
While the fans have been begging for the front office to move on from Taylor, it doesn’t sound like that’ll happen. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport believe the Bengals will retain their coach for the 2026 season.
“Despite a third straight non-playoff season and quarterback Joe Burrow’s recent musings about the future, there are no signs the Bengals are preparing to make major changes,” Rapoport and Pelissero said. “Coach Zac Taylor has two years left on his contract, and all indications are that Taylor should return.”
According to Pelissero and Rapoport, the Bengals are expected to give Taylor another year in large part because he didn’t have Burrow for over two months.

What about Joe Burrow?
It’s no secret that Burrow is frustrated with his current situation in Cincinnati. As of this time though, he’s not expected to demand a trade.
Burrow is under contract through the 2029 season. He was asked this week if he’d consider leaving the Bengals. His response was pretty simple: “I can’t see that, no.”
If the Bengals keep losing, Burrow might have no choice but to apply pressure on Cincinnati’s front office. For now though, he’ll need to make things work with Taylor at the helm.
