The Kansas City Chiefs have already been eliminated from playoff contention, and there are still three games remaining in the season.
They are 6-8 and have their most losses in a single season since 2012.
In Week 15, the Chiefs fell 16-13 to the Los Angeles Chargers. It was late in the fourth quarter when star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL.
Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew took over for Kansas City on the final drive.
Mahomes will miss the rest of the season, and while that is crushing despite not having anything left to play for, he’s staying positive.
“Don’t know why this had to happen,” Mahomes posted on X. “And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I Will be back stronger than ever.”

With Minshew getting the nod for Kansas City on Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs needed to make sure they had someone ready to go in case Minshew gets hurt, too.
On Saturday, the Chiefs announced that they signed quarterback Chris Oladokun from the practice squad to the active roster.

Oladokun will back up Minshew on Sunday. He is in his fourth season with the team with most of that time spent on the practice squad.
Oladokun has appeared in two games with the Chiefs and didn’t record an attempted pass.
Kansas City visits Tennessee (2-12) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
