Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is hoping to have a bounce-back performance in Week 16, that’s for sure.
In five games this season, Sanders has completed 52.2% of his pass attempts for 946 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions. Half of his interceptions came in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears. He was also sacked five times during the team’s 31-3 loss at Soldier Field.
Although he’s just four starts into his NFL career, Sanders refuses to make excuses. He knows he has to be better if he wants to remain Cleveland’s starter.
“I just got to play better,” Sanders said, via Chris Easterling of Akron Beacon Journal. “Yeah. I just cannot make those costly turnovers and have the expectation to win.”
Sanders expressed the importance of improving his completion percentage this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
“I got to get more completions and even whenever we’re down or anything I can’t press. I just got to remain having those mental notes to myself. Just work within the game and just keep driving the ball. Get first downs.”

Will Shedeur get a second season with the Browns?
According to Tony Rizzo of ESPN Cleveland, the Browns are expected to select a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft.
“I’m hearing the Browns are leaning towards taking a quarterback in the April draft,” Rizzo said.
As of Week 16, the Browns own the No. 4 pick in the draft. They’d probably have to get ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders if they want to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Of course, Sanders could complicate matters by playing at a high level over the next three weeks. That’s entirely up to him though.
