Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy appeared to celebrate too prematurely while his New England Patriots had a dominant lead over the Buffalo Bills.

Dave Portnoy's Patriots rant backfires in humiliating fashion as his beloved NFL team collapses spectacularly against Bills | Daily Mail Online

Portnoy had to eat crow after posting an exuberant video while the Patriots held a 21-0 advantage over their AFC East rivals.

‘We are destroying this team! We were underdogs going into this game!’ Portnoy posted with that advantage.

‘I don’t wanna get too cocky, I don’t wanna get too loud, but nobody knows championship football more than this guy, more than these fans. I’ve seen it! I have six rings and you’re telling me Buffalo’s better than us?

‘This is our division, this is our league, and we’re back! We’re not beating this team, we’re demolishing this team.’

The Buffalo Bills then proceeded to outscore the Patriots 35-10 for the rest of the game – ultimately winning 35-31.

It meant that New England couldn’t lock up the division just yet. It also meant that Portnoy’s over-confidence came back to bite him.

‘If I could take back that first celebratory victory when it was 21-0 and I was ranting, raving about how the division is ours and the Bills are done, I would take it back. I would take it back,’ Portnoy said with his tail tucked between his legs.

‘I was excited in the moment. I hated what the Patriots did at the end of the first half. When they slow-played it, didn’t go for a touchdown, field goal.

‘You know Buffalo is going to get going, but I mean, they kick our f***ing a** in the second half. They kicked our a**.’

Portnoy added an admission that ‘maybe I was premature declaring [the Patriots] the kings of the AFC’ and that he ‘looked like a total a**hole’ in the previous video.

New England’s blown lead meant they lost for the first time since mid-September – ending the league’s longest winning streak.

At 11-3, the Patriots can still win the division. Their final three games are against the Baltimore Ravens, the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.
