Joe Burrow Assigns Blame After Ravens Loss

The Cincinnati Bengals dropped to 4-10 after a 24-0 loss against the Ravens at home. Following the game, Burrow blamed himself as he said, “There’s not a team in the NFL that would have won the game today if I was their quarterback.” Joe Burrow finished 25-of-39 with 225 passing yards, two interceptions and zero touchdowns.

Additionally, Burrow said, “I think this is one of the worst games I’ve played. I hold myself to a high standard. Today I didn’t come close.” Burrow is now 1-2 since returning from injury.

Joe Burrow’s Return

The loss for Cincinnati came after the Bengals blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter against the Buffalo Bills. On that occasion, quarterback Joe Burrow threw two costly interceptions that directly affected the result. Prior to the Ravens game, Burrow made headlines as he made some interesting comments in his weekly press conference.

Burrow had not thrown an interception all season before the fourth quarter of the Bills game. He’s now thrown four interceptions over his last five quarters of football. When Burrow returned, they had a slight chance of making the postseason. Following the loss, the Bengals have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. It marks the third straight season Cincinnati has missed the postseason.

The offense struggled today as they were also without star receiver Tee Higgins , who didn’t clear concussion protocol in time for the game. Their zero points marked the first time the Bengals had been shut out all season.

Burrow now has six touchdowns and four interceptions since returning from a turf toe injury that cost him nine games this season.

What’s Next For the Bengals?

Since the Bengals have now been eliminated from the playoffs, they have nothing to play for in the final three weeks of the season. Their upcoming matchup against Miami has already been flexed out of Sunday Night Football . Their final three opponents are below .500, which meant a win today would have given the Bengals a real chance of winning out and perhaps finding a way to sneak into the postseason.

Regarding Joe Burrow’s play, star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase said “If I’m being honest, I’ve never been in a situation with him where I’ve had to uplift him, but going forward I might need to because he does it for me. You never know what he might be going through. I might need to start doing that.”

Chase was one of the few bright spots offensively for the Bengals. He finished with 10 receptions for 132 receiving yards. His 10 receptions meant he crossed the 100-catch barrier for the third consecutive season. He’ll face off against the Dolphins next week with a chance of crossing 1,200 yards.

With their 4-10 record, the Bengals find themselves with the ninth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. They have not selected in the top 10 since drafting Ja’Marr Chase in 2021. They’re currently tied with the Saints and Commanders at 4-10.
