BREAKING: Patriots’ final injury report of week brings bad news with surprise new ailment

Patriots top defender added to injury report with hip ailment

FOXBORO — Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez was added to the injury report Friday and is now questionable to play Sunday against the Dolphins with a hip injury.

Gonzalez was limited in practice Friday with the ailment.

Gonzalez has been the Patriots’ best defensive player this season. The Patriots travel Saturday afternoon, at which point they’ll rule out any player who doesn’t travel to Miami. The Patriots need Gonzalez to help cover Dolphins wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The only player ruled out for Week 12 is defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy (neck).

Offensive lineman Cole Strange, who returned to practice on Wednesday but remains on the PUP list while recovering from last year’s season-ending knee injury, is also questionable to play against the Dolphins. Gonzalez and Strange are among 10 players listed as questionable.

DT Christian Barmore (illness), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), T Vederian Lowe (shoulder), S Marte Mapu (neck), LB Anfernee Jennings (knee), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), LB Keion White (knee) and DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (foot) are also questionable.

DT Daniel Ekuale, LB Christian Elliss, DT Davon Godchaux and TE Austin Hooper were removed from the injury report.
