Kansas City Chiefs receives worst possible news over Trey Smith in major blow to playoff hopes

THE Kansas City Chiefs received discouraging injury news concerning star offensive lineman Trey Smith.

TheĀ Chiefsā€˜ latestĀ newsĀ regarding Smith has put a damper on the team’s playoff hopes.

Kansas City Chiefs v Denver Broncos

Smith left during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against theĀ Indianapolis Colts.

Shortly after the injury, theĀ 26-year-old was ruled out of the Chiefs’ eventual overtime win.

On Monday, the Chiefs and Smith received disappointing news about Smith.

It was reported that Smith suffered both high and low-ankle sprains, perĀ NFLĀ Network.

The report added that Smith is ā€œexpected to miss some timeā€ which includes Kansas City’s game against theĀ Dallas CowboysĀ onĀ Thanksgiving.

This season, Smith has made 10 starts and missed one game.

Mike Caliendo replaced him on Sunday, and he’s expected to start in Smith’s place.

The loss of Smith is a hit toĀ Patrick MahomesĀ and the team’s offensive line.

Mahomes has been sacked 24 times, which is the 10th worst in the NFL.

Smith earned a Pro Bowl nod last season.

The Chiefs are 6-5 but would still be out of the playoffs if the season ended after Week 12.

It will be a must-win game for both Kansas City and the Dallas squad onĀ TurkeyĀ Day.

The Cowboys are 5-5-1 after a comeback win over theĀ Philadelphia Eagles.
