Trade Pitch Sees Browns Dealing Myles Garrett to AFC Contender for Massive Haul

The Cleveland Browns could be a team to watch this offseason.

Cleveland has two first-round picks and is expected to draft their franchise quarterback. Yet, the Browns could also trade some talent from their roster to once again go through a rebuild.

NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report proposed a mock trade that would see the Browns deal Garrett to the New England Patriots.

Browns acquire:

  • 2026 first-round Pick
  • 2026 third-round Pick
  • 2027 first-round Pick
  • 2027 third-round Pick

Patriots acquire:

  • Myles Garrett

The proposed deal would be a blockbuster. The Patriots would acquire one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. Cleveland, meanwhile, would get two first-round picks and two third-round picks from the Patriots.

Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million deal with the Browns, which takes him through the 2030 NFL season. The star pass rusher would be a major get for the Patriots, who have become a legit Super Bowl contender this season.

New England, meanwhile, also has plenty of cap space due to quarterback Drake Maye still being on his rookie deal. The Patriots are predicted to have over $50 million in cap space next season. This would allow New England to make a big move.

Garrett has recorded 39 tackles, 15 sacks, and one forced fumble in 10 games this season. He’s recorded 10+ sacks in eight straight years and is on pace to break his career-high 16 sacks.

Analyst Explains Garrett to Patriots Trade

The proposed deal would be a blockbuster and does make sense for both sides.

New England gets a star pass rusher, which is a need, while the Browns get two first-round picks and two third-round picks to help restock the cupboards.

“One of New England’s more glaring issues this year has been an inability to limit opposing quarterbacks,” Kay wrote. “The team has allowed 215.9 yards per game and given up 19 touchdowns through the air, numbers that a superstar pass-rusher like Garrett would instantly improve. … With over $64 million in projected cap space for the 2026 campaign and 11 picks in the upcoming draft, the Pats can comfortably make a run at Garrett when the new league year begins.

“It may take four Day 1 and 2 picks—which are set to fall near the end of the round—spread across the next two drafts to get the job done, but Garrett would have a transformational effect on New England’s defense and a real opportunity to win a ring.”

It would be a massive move, but with Maye still having three more years on his rookie deal, the time is now for the Patriots to go all-in.

Garrett Did Request a Trade From Browns

Although Garrett did sign an extension with the Browns, he did request a trade this offseason.

The star pass rusher was frustrated with Cleveland not being a playoff contender and requested a trade this offseason.

“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl. And that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote back in February. “My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

The Browns selected Garrett first overall in 2017.
