Bengals Ja’Marr Chase to sit out one game, as NFL will reportedly uphold his suspension

Following the Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase spitting on Steelers opponents, the NFL suspended Cincinnati’s star for one game. Chase filed an appeal on Monday, but it will reportedly be denied.

NFL Insider Adam Schefter weighed in on the matter late Tuesday night. The ESPN reporter posted on social media that Chase’s suspension will be held up.

“Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase’s appeal of his one-game suspension was denied,” Schefter wrote. “Chase now will be forced to sit out Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots and forfeit over $507,000 in lost wages.”

Ja’Marr Chase will lose big money for incident

To put that into perspective, the average American’s salary is approximately $61,702 per year. Chase will lose eight times that much for losing his composure in Week 11.That’s mind-boggling to say the least, but it puts in perspective just how much a top-tier player in the NFL makes in one season.

Much of the frustration probably stems from Cincy’s awful play and 3-7 record. Chase was seen on video following the team’s 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 9, angrily venting over the team blowing a late lead.

The Bengals will have a quick turnaround this week, as they travel to Baltimore to face the 5-5 Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
