NFL news, injury updates: Ja’Marr Chase suspended for spitting on Jalen Ramsey, while Michael Penix Jr., Lane Johnson set to miss extended time

Tại sao đơn kháng cáo của Ja'Marr Chase sẽ bị bác bỏ - và điều này có thể kết thúc mùa giải của Joe Burrow

Week 11 was a particularly rough one for quarterbacks, with multiple injury scares Sunday. Some teams turned their QB losses into wins — the Steelers, for example, smacked the Bengals despite losing Aaron Rodgers to a hand injury early, while Bryce Young came out of the locker room after an ankle injury to lead the Panthers to a comeback overtime win over the Falcons, and Jordan Love returned to lead the Packers over the Giants.

For others, it won’t be so easy to bounce back. The Falcons, for instance, placed Michael Penix Jr. on injured reserve Monday with a knee injury in the loss to the Panthers. In Cleveland, Dillon Gabriel’s concussion led to Shedeur Sanders getting his first pro snaps. That didn’t go well, though, as the Ravens rallied to beat the Browns in Gabriel’s absence.

The Eagles beat the Lions on Sunday night, but franchise tackle Lane Johnson reportedly suffered a Lisfranc injury and could be set for a spell on injured reserve.

In addition to the quarterbacks, Titans receiver Calvin Ridley’s season is over due to a broken fibula, with Ridley getting carted off during Sunday’s loss to the Texans. Packers running back Josh Jacobs also left Sunday’s win over the Giants early with a knee injury, though reports came Monday he won’t need surgery and has a chance to play in Week 12.

And in some non-injury news, Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been suspended one game by the NFL for spitting on Steelers safety Jalen Ramsey, who was ejected from Sunday’s game for throwing a punch at Chase. Chase declined to speak with reporters during open locker room on Monday.

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been suspended for one week after spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey during Sunday’s game, the NFL announced Monday.

The league announced that Chase was suspended for “unsportsmanlike conduct.” He is set to miss Cincinnati’s Week 12 game against the New England Patriots, though he can appeal the ruling.

In the fourth quarter of the Steelers’ 34-12 win, Ramsey and Chase got into it. Chase spit on Ramsey, and Ramsey punched him in retaliation. Both players were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Rookie Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders had his house broken into on Sunday during the Cleveland’s loss to the Ravens, per multiple reports. The break-in reportedly occurred while Sanders was making his (somewhat rough) NFL debut.

There are not a lot of details about the break-in at this time, including whether anything was taken. No suspects have been identified.

Sanders becomes the latest pro athlete to have his house broken into during a game. Last year, a string of high-profile burglaries led the NFL to release a statement warning players about the issue.

Gay missed a potential game-winner in regulation from 56 yards away and a 51-yarder in the second quarter. It was a continuation of struggles he has had this season from 50 yards and longer.

He is 4-of-9 from that distance this season.

As a second-string cornerback, Taylor-Britt has 21 total tackles this season, with 12 solo tackles and five passes defended.

Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase could be looking at a hefty fine from the NFL. Chase got into a scuffle with Pittsburgh Steelers corner Jalen Ramsey in Sunday’s game, which resulted in Ramsey getting ejected for punching Chase in the helmet.

But video revealed Chase may have started the entire thing. Footage circulated Sunday allegedly showing Chase spit on Ramsey, which prompted the cornerback to take a swing at the wideout.

A day after that video emerged, Chase declined to speak with reporters.

That doesn’t necessarily mean anything, though it suggests Chase does not want to deal with questions about the incident until a later date. It’s possible he’s waiting to hear the NFL’s ruling on the matter. That’s expected to come down Monday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Steelers didn’t struggle too much despite losing Ramsey. The team still managed a 34-12 win over the Bengals. Chase hauled in three catches for 30 yards in the loss.
