DETROIT Lions star Sam LaPorta will miss this Sunday’s match up with the Philadelphia Eagles through injury.
The tight end, 24, has been suffering with a back issue.

LaPorta did not participate in practice alongside his teammates this week.
And this weekend’s Sunday Night Football clash with the reigning Super Bowl champion will come too soon.
The 2023 Pro Bowler has started all nine games for the Lions so far this season.
Dan Campbell‘s squad is 6-3 and beat the Washington Commanders 44-22 last weekend.
In LaPorta’s absence, the Lions will lean more on Brock Wright.
Wright, 26, signed with Detroit as an undrafted free agent in 2021 following four years at Notre Dame.
Campbell, 49, has publicly backed Wright to shine.
“Brock’s a guy we don’t talk a lot about, but he’s the jack of all trades,” the Lions head coach said.
“He does everything for us: pass protect, run block, he can run some routes, he plays special teams.
“He’s one of the most dependable players we have on this team.”
LaPorta is not the only player that Campbell will have to do without.
Safety Kerby Joseph will be absent for a fourth straight game due to a knee issue.
While cornerback Terrion Arnold is out with concussion.
Arnold, 22, sustained the head injury during last week’s win over the Commanders.

But he will first have to be cleared by an independent neurologist.
Arnold could be replaced by Rock Ya-Sin at cornerback.
Ya-Sin, 29, has started two games so far this season.
The first came in the Kansas City Chiefs defeat, while the second came in victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
