Patrick Mahomes has opened up about his thoughts on Buffalo Bills fans as the highly anticipated showdown between the two teams approaches, following recent scrutiny over the star quarterback’s exchange with a referee.
On Nov. 2, the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to face off against the Bills in what promises to be another installment in their ongoing rivalry. The Chiefs enter the contest having secured victories in four of their previous five outings, while the Bills have claimed three wins during the same period, which includes a bye week for Buffalo.
As the next chapter in this rivalry prepares to unfold, Mahomes addressed reporters about the battles he and Josh Allen have engaged in throughout the years, with the fans playing their own significant role. The confrontation between the two elite quarterbacks comes after Mahomes brushed off Andy Reid following a celebration
“I mean, they don’t like us. I mean, that’s pretty – they do not like the Chiefs,” Mahomes told reporters Wednesday when questioned about the atmosphere and the fans whenever Kansas City travels to Buffalo.

“But I mean, it is a cool environment. I love playing in historic stadiums. And that stadium has had so many great players play in it. And who knows, it might be the last time that we get the opportunity to play there. And it’ll be a great challenge for us.”
“And they’re loud. And that’s what you want. You want to go and go in and be in a hostile environment.
“That’s what football, when you watch on TV as a kid growing up, is the environments you want to play in. And so obviously, they’re not rooting for us. But you get to bond together as a team and get to go into a historic stadium and play in a great environment.”
Throughout his career, Mahomes holds a 5-4 record against the Bills, though Buffalo remains one of just four teams against which the elite quarterback has a losing record in regular-season play.
During the regular season, Mahomes sits at 1-4 versus the Bills, 0-2 against the Indianapolis Colts, and 1-2 against both the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans.
Notably, the Chiefs boast a perfect 4-0 playoff record against the Bills, proving that Mahomes excels under the biggest pressure. Given his track record against Allen and the Bills, Mahomes was generous in his admiration for his fellow quarterback and the impressive work the 29-year-old has accomplished in Buffalo.
“To be that size and be able to move like that. I mean, I think he’s, he’s done so many great things as far as throwing the football and stuff like that,” Mahomes told reporters.
“But the way he’s able to extend plays and get close to the sideline to make these big-time throws on the field, that stuff is special. And so he’s, he’s gotten better and better each and every year. I think that’s something I’ve seen him and so that’s something I try to do for myself as well. And so he’s a great football player.”
Ultimately, the Chiefs’ star quarterback thinks competing in a challenging atmosphere like Buffalo can strengthen Kansas City as a team, particularly following a difficult start to the campaign.
“I think it’s cool, honestly, just because like you have to bond together as a team,” the 30-year-old posited. “I mean, you do that Arrowhead and you kind of have the crowd behind you. And whenever stuff isn’t going well, you can kind of feed off the crowd and stuff like that.
“Whereas when you’re on the road, you just have your teammates, and your coaches, and you kind of have to bond together and there’s going to be adversity, and it’s how you can bond together and come out on the other side of that and come out on the right way with a win.”
