Bengals release defensive tackle Mike Pennel

The Cincinnati Bengals announced they released defensive tackle Mike Pennel.

Pennel had 15 tackles in the eight games in which he played for Cincinnati.

The Bengals also placed linebacker Shaka Heyward and center Matt Lee on the reserve/injured list.

In September, Pennel was signed off the Bengals’ practice squad to the active roster.

The Bengals elevated Pennel from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the team’s season-opening win against Cleveland.

Cincinnati signed Pennel to the practice squad Sept. 1.

The 34-year-old Pennel also has played for the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears over 11 NFL seasons.
