With the Kansas City Chiefs bouncing back from an 0-2 start to surge to 4-3 and earn serious Super Bowl contender status, they find themselves in a familiar but enviable position.
Led by Patrick Mahomes in MVP form and firing on both sides of the ball, the Chiefs could be forgiven for standing pat at this year’s trade deadline.
But last season’s embarrassing loss in the big game remains fresh in the memory, and a shrewd move or two now could be the difference between another disappointing finish and circuit-celebration in the playoffs.
Here are five realistic targets the Chiefs ought to consider as they push for another NFL championship.

Breece Hall, RB – New York Jets
The Chiefs’ ground game has been serviceable, but adding another dynamic weapon behind Mahomes could transform the offense.
Hall, still averaging about 4.5 yards per carry despite the Jets’ 0-6 slide, is reportedly drawing serious trade interest – with Kansas City mentioned among his potential destinations.
His contract expires after 2025, making the Jets more willing to move him for draft capital.
Hall’s explosion and pass-catching ability would slot well into Andy Reid’s scheme and give Kansas City another dimension to threaten playoff defences.
Bradley Chubb, EDGE – Miami Dolphins
Even a team as loaded as the Chiefs cannot afford too much drop-off in pass rush if they hope to dominate in the postseason.
Chubb, coming off a torn ACL but back at four sacks in seven games, is viewed as a bona fide trade candidate by multiple outlets.

Miami’s poor 1-6 start and looming rebuild make him an ideal buy-candidate. A move for Chubb would provide the edge-rush boost Kansas City needs to generate constant pressure on playoff-calibre quarterbacks.
Alvin Kamara, RB – New Orleans Saints
At first glance, Kamara seems less available: he’s stated he wants to stay in New Orleans, and there’s little indication of a trade.
But from Kansas City’s perspective, Kamara’s unique skill-set – elite receiving ability out of the backfield – could add considerable value.

If the Chiefs believe that their passing offence needs supplementary weapons and the Saints ever change direction, Kamara would be a high-reward target.
Maliek Collins, DT – Cleveland Browns
While not as splashy as a running back or edge rusher, Collins offers internal strength and interior disruption – two attributes that can make a huge difference in tight playoff games.
With the Browns fielding questions in their defensive front and entering a phase where trading veterans makes sense, Collins could be the under-the-radar upgrade Kansas City uses to tighten their run defence and boost their pass-rush from the inside.
Dre’Mont Jones, EDGE – Tennessee Titans
Another pass-rush target, Jones offers a different profile than Chubb: younger, with upside, and perhaps slightly less expensive to acquire.
As playoff positioning tightens, the Chiefs would do well to explore this kind of value-driven edge-rusher who can step in immediately and contribute to the rotation.

Acquiring Jones could allow Kansas City to relieve pressure on their starters and keep fresh legs attacking in late-season and postseason games.
