Lions place LB Zach Cunningham on injured reserve

Even with the Lions being on the bye week and players not in Allen Park during Week 8, the Detroit Lions still had to make a roster move on Wednesday.

Per the NFL’s transaction report, the Lions have placed reserve linebacker Zach Cunningham on injured reserve. Cunningham suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night’s 24-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He left the game and did not return. This came after Cunningham had missed the three prior games with a hamstring issue.

There is no indication if Cunningham, who plays primarily on special teams but has also worked in short-yardage and red zone packages throughout the season, will be able to return in 2025. The Lions facility is closed to and staff are off until next week. For the year, the 30-year-old has seven tackles and one TFL.
