Through seven games, the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t exactly where they wanted to be, but it could have been much, much worse. The team started 0-2 in stunning fashion and fell to 2-3 after a tough loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since then, Andy Reid‘s team has rebounded strongly.
An impressive win over the Detroit Lions and pure domination against the Las Vegas Raiders has analysts thinking the Chiefs might be well and truly back. With Rashee Rice back, the offense looks to be among the best in the league once again. There aren’t many weaknesses on the roster, but that isn’t stopping analysts from thinking that moves could be coming before the trade deadline.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen published a list of the Top 25 players who could be available at the trade deadline. Among the 25, only two are linked to the Chiefs. But those two are young, extremely talented and could turn the Chiefs into Super Bowl favorites.
Breece Hall and Jaelan Phillips linked to Chiefs as trade targets
The first is New York Jets running back Breece Hall. Hall’s name has been brought up in trade rumors for a while now, and it would make sense for the franchise to trade him away for some draft capital before his contract expires at the end of the season.

The other name is intriguing for many reasons. Miami Dolphins EDGE Jaelan Phillips is considered a trade candidate because, just like Hall, he will be a free agent after this year. Phillips was on his way to stardom before injuries derailed his very promising career. He’s currently healthy, but isn’t quite the same player he was during his first three seasons.
If there’s anyone who can unlock Phillips, though, it would be Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. A team can never have too many pass-rushers. As for Hall, the Chiefs’ running back room doesn’t inspire much confidence in the way of explosive plays. Hall would absolutely provide that, both as a runner and pass-catcher.
