The Kansas City Chiefs were able to clear their bench during Sunday’s dismantling of the Las Vegas Raiders. Here’s a closer look at snap counts from the game.

It was a drubbing. A whipping, a massacre, a beatdown. Whatever you want to call it, the Kansas City Chiefs flexed some serious muscle en route to their 31-0 shellacking of the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, and a closer look at the snap counts reflects that.

It was still the 3rd quarter when head coach Andy Reid was able to take his foot off the gas and insert backup quarterback Gardner Minshew into the game. Along with rookie wideout Jalen Royals and offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad, Minshew played the final 16 snaps of the game.

The only Chiefs to stay on the field for every offensive snap were left tackle Jaylon Moore and left guard Kingsley Suamataia. That indicates that the team wants them to continue to develop cohesion on the left side of the line.

The Chiefs’ snap counts from Week 7 are a bit difficult to decipher given the lopsided nature of things versus the Raiders.

Rookie running back Brashard Smith played most of the fourth quarter as well and contributed quite a bit during this game. Smith chipped in 28 snaps, which most notably tops Kareem Hunt (15 snaps), though the latter did suffer an injury for part of this game.

Rashee Rice played mostly in the first half of this game, totaling 33 snaps. The Chiefs were able to get creative among their wideouts, with Xavier Worthy racking up the most work at 48 snaps.

On defense, there isn’t much of a story to be told; that’s because, as a unit, this group utterly dominated the Raiders.

Las Vegas totaled just 30(!) offensive snaps. The usual suspects, Chamarri Conner (26 snaps), Nick Bolton (25), Trent McDuffie (25), and Jaylen Watson (25) led the way, with rookie cornerback Nohl Williams just behind them at 24 snaps.

All in all, this game served almost as a mini-bye for the Chiefs’ defense, a unit that was able to keep its workload low against its division rival. Next on the schedule is the Washington Commanders, who will visit for Monday Night Football in Week 8.
