BREAKING NEWS : Dak Prescott was hiding an injury during Cowboys’ big win and no one noticed

The Dallas Cowboys got back in the win column on Sunday in convincing fashion, disposing of the Washington Commanders 44-22 to improve to 3-3-1 on the season. It was the most complete performance of the season, as the defense finally held up its end of the bargain.

On the other side of the ball, Cowboys fans are probably running out of words to describe the heater that Dak Prescott is on. It is very clearly the best season of Prescott’s career, which is saying a lot given he finished second in MVP voting just two years ago.

The Cowboys will remain in the playoff hunt for as long as Prescott is healthy. But the 32-year-old arrived at his postgame availability with his left hand wrapped. Prescott thankfully downplayed the injury, saying that he’s dealing with some swelling after potentially hitting it on another player’s helmet.

Dak Prescott reveals he played through a hand injury in the Cowboys’ Week 7 win

That sound you hear is every Cowboys fan breathing a sigh of relief in unison.

What’s so odd is that the injury wasn’t picked up by the FOX broadcast during the game. Granted, Prescott wasn’t shown wincing or flexing his left hand during the first watch. It’s unclear when the injury occurred, but Prescott clearly played through it in some capacity.

Typically, a broadcast will catch a quarterback’s hand smacking against a defender’s helmet during a dropback, but it could’ve happened on one of Prescott’s five scrambles or when he dropped a snap in the first half. This would be much more concerning if Prescott showed up to the presser in a splint or a brace. A wrap is much less alarming.

If nothing else, it makes Prescott’s three-touchdown performance that much more impressive, but Cowboys fans have less-than-fond memories of Prescott and hand injuries.

The three-time Pro Bowler infamously suffered a fractured thumb on his throwing hand in the 2022 season opener against the Buccaneers after it made contact with Shaq Barrett on a throw. Prescott underwent surgery and missed five games.

It seems that Prescott is only dealing with swelling in this case, which is a huge relief. He might need to manage it throughout the week, but No. 4 made it sound like a typical bump or bruise suffered after a hard-fought rivalry game.
