BREAKING: Bears fans warned the Cowboys about Matt Eberflus (and they were spot on)

We tried to warn you!

New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys

The Matt Eberflus era of Chicago Bears football finally came to an end after the disastrous end to the Thanksgiving game a season ago. Eberflus didn’t stay unemployed for long, landing the defensive coordinator job for the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason.

Some might have thought that “Hey, Eberflus led a talented defense before he came to Chicago so maybe this will work out” but Bears fans knew better. They knew the Cowboys were about to experience an unmitigated disaster defensively and that’s exactly how things have played out so far.

Through six games, the Cowboys defense has been a complete and total trainwreck. Ed Werder shared a stat that shows just how painfully bad Eberflus’ defense has been in Dallas, pointing out that, “The Cowboys are the only team in the NFL scoring 30 points per game and allowing 30 points per game.”

Bears fans can’t stop laughing at how bad Matt Eberflus’ defense has been

A prime instance of how bad things are for this group is watching the 4th-and-3 attempt for Carolina in its win over Dallas on Sunday. DaRon Bland was lined up way too far from the first down marker, making it so easy for Bryce Young and Hunter Renfrow to convert on fourth down and eventually get the Panthers the win on a game-winning field goal.

The Cowboys could be a great team given that offense they have but Eberflus’ defense has ruined any chance of that happening. He’s run that unit into the ground and it’s something that brings a smile to Bears fans’ faces. It’d only be funnier if he was doing this with a division rival like Detroit or Green Bay but hey, we’ll take bad things happening defensively for Dallas too.

This just proves that the Bears were 100% in the right for canning Eberflus. He was not head coach material and people thought maybe he was just one of those guys who could be a great coordinator but not a head coach. That might not be the case anymore with Eberflus and it’s enjoyable to watch for anyone wearing the navy and orange.
