Patriots Elevate Two Players To Active Roster Before Saints Meeting

The New England Patriots are rolling as they head into their Week 6 clash with the New Orleans Saints. However, some injury issues are going to force the coaching staff to rely on depth players when the team takes the field.

Before they departed for New Orleans, New England ruled out Jaylinn Hawkins, Anfernee Jennings and Keion White for this game. They also placed Antonio Gibson on injured reserve after he reportedly tore his ACL in the team’s Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills.

With those guys out, the Patriots are going to need some of their other players to step up across the roster. On Saturday, they made a pair of moves to give themselves some reinforcements for this one, as they elevated running back Terrell Jennings and defensive end Truman Jones from the practice squad to the active roster.

“Patriots elevate RB Terrell Jennings and DE Truman Jones to the active roster,” the team announced in a post on X.

Jennings is being called up to help replace the loss of Gibson in the running back room. While Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson will handle most of the workload at this spot, Jennings could factor into the mix as well.

Jones, on the other hand, will help fill in for White and Jennings on the defensive line. In the only NFL action of his young career, Jones racked up a pair of solo tackles last year with the Pats in their season-ending victory over the Bills.

Neither guy should be expected to have a major role, but if more injuries pop up, the Patriots have their bases covered. Kickoff for their matchup with the Saints is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
