BREAKING : Dallas Cowboys star linebacker nearing shockingly fast return from triple knee tear

The Dallas Cowboys’ struggling defense, statistically the worst in the league through five weeks, is on the verge of receiving a massive boost. Standout inside linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is reportedly nearing a return from the devastating knee injury that cut his 2024 season short.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Friday afternoon, the Cowboys expect to open Overshown’s practice window later this month to have him back in games by November. “He’s worked relentlessly to get back – and his return is close. Massive news for Dallas,” Schultz wrote.

The news could not be more welcome for a Dallas team that has been leaning heavily on its offense to stay competitive. The defense is currently allowing a league-worst 412 yards per game, while the team sits at 2-2-1.

Prescott and Williams have kept the team afloat

Their record is largely thanks to the heroics of quarterback Dak Prescott, who ranks second in the NFL in passing yards, and running back Javonte Williams, who is third in rushing.

Overshown was in the middle of a breakout season before tearing his ACL, PCL, and MCL last December. At the time of the injury, he had recorded 84 tackles, 5 sacks, an interception, and a defensive touchdown.

Overshown returned sooner than planned

His impending return is well ahead of the initial prognosis. After the brutal injury, many feared the former third-round pick would miss the entirety of the 2025 season.

Now, after nearly a year of intense rehab, he is on the brink of rejoining a defense that desperately needs his playmaking ability as they head into a crucial stretch of their schedule.
