BREAKING : Patriots’ new dynamic duo already looks like something special

The Patriots’ decision to sign Stefon Diggs in free agency to be the clear No. 1 receiver for Drake Maye was met with mixed reactions from analysts and fans. The primary reason for concern was his past with forcing his way off of teams with what many would refer to as a diva attitude, and that was not something the Patriots locker room needed now or in the future.

Because of that, there was a lot of skepticism surrounding his signing, even more so with him coming off an ACL injury that prematurely ended his lone season with the Texans in 2024.

But that has been the furthest thing from an issue so far in his Patriots tenure, and he has been nothing but a professional and a strong leader for the team, which is now translating to the field with back-to-back impressive performances that surely put him and Drake Maye on the map of some of the best offensive duos in football.

It has prompted plenty of excitement from fans who have longed for another iconic duo in New England since the days of Tom Brady and Julian Edelman. You could go even further back and remember Brady and Randy Moss, even if that was short-lived.

Regardless, things are going well with the Maye to Diggs connection so far, and it is now starting to catch on with those around the league, immediately putting them on notice of their potential moving forward.

Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs have the potential to be the latest memorable duo in Patriots history

After a slow start to his return to the field, Diggs has come alive over the last two weeks, just in time to ensure he sought the best revenge against his former team on primetime television.

That led him to record 10 receptions for 146 yards, with several incredible catches that still have many scratching their heads in disbelief that Maye made the throw and Diggs made the catch.

The connection between the quarterback and receiver is exactly why Mike Vrabel and Co. knew signing Diggs was the right decision. He’s become the security blanket for Maye, along with Hunter Henry, and is still a defenses worst nightmare, and that’s exactly what this rebuilding Patriots team needed.

Based on his performance over the last two weeks, it’s fair to say we haven’t seen the best yet from Diggs, especially since we haven’t seen him score a touchdown yet.

That’s surely something Maye will want to get done sooner rather than later, and fortunately, they have an easy stretch in the schedule over the next four weeks to accomplish it.
