Packers work to get back on track after bye week

Packers in a hudle at practice

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers are looking to get back on track after not winning their last two games before their early bye week.

The team welcomed back multiple members on the offensive side of the ball who have been dealing with injuries.

Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker said having a few of his teammates back at practice is a pleasant sight.

“It feels good to see my Green Bay Packers family back in the building,” said Walker. “We spend so much time with each other, so we take it for granted. So, when they come back and see guys like Zach Tom, Arron Mosby, Dontayvion Wicks, Sean Rhyan, it really feels good.”

Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden said he took advantage of his first NFL bye week by going to his cousin’s football game and relaxing at home. Golden thinks that learning from veterans like Christian Watson was a big help.

“I learned a lot,” said Golden. “Obviously, [Watson], you know, got a good grasp of the offense. So, for me coming in, you know, I was asked a lot of questions, and now he’s done a great job helping me coming on with it.”

Since returning to work, Packers safety Xavier McKinney said he has one thing on his mind after the bye week: creating turnovers. He said he wants to do his part to help the team get back to winning games.

“I think we experienced that we’re not exactly where we want to be yet,” said McKinney. “We’re not the team we want to be yet. But luckily, there’s a long season and we get more opportunities to be able to develop into that team that we want to be.”

Safety Evan Williams echoed McKinney’s message by saying he wants the team to be more relentless in order to get back on track.

“Really just getting back to the basics, getting back to what makes us, us, and that’s our play-style, how we attack the ball, and just playing fast,” said Williams. “Just getting back to basics, playing a detail-oriented football.”
