BREAKING NEWS : Cowboys show encouraging signs key starters are nearing return

Cowboys Show Encouraging Signs Key Starters Are Near Return - Newsweek

The Dallas Cowboys have had to deal with a lot of injuries to start the year, arguably being hit with as many as any team in the NFL. Guys on both sides of the ball have been lost, and it has forced other guys to have to step up.

Two of the key guys on the offensive side of the ball who have been injured are wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and offensive lineman Tyler Booker. Lamb suffered a high ankle sprain early in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, while Booker suffered the same type of injury at the end of that game against Bears.

While they are both out on Sunday, neither guy has been put on the injured reserved.

That could be a good sign for the team, as that allows guys to be back as soon as they are healthy, meaning they could both be back in uniform the next couple of games.

Despite all of the injuries the team is dealing with, the offense is still playing at a high level. Dak Prescott is coming off one of the best games of his career, as he was 31-40 for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Not only is he missing Booker, but fellow offensive lineman Cooper Beebe has missed time as well.

With Lamb out, that has forced off-season acquisition George Pickens to play a bigger role than expected, and he has delivered. In four games, he has 21 catches for 300 yards and four touchdowns. He was especially big in that tie against the Green Bay Packers, as he finished with eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

The fact the offense is playing this well while missing so many guys is an extremely positive sign, and shows the potential of what this offense could be a full strength.

The Cowboys have as manageable of stretch as any team in the NFL can have the next two weeks. First, the Cowboys host the New York Jets on Sunday, and travel to take on the Carolina Panthers next week.

With a divisional matchup against the Washington Commanders on October 19, that could be the date that the team is looking at to bring their guys back.
