Since the Cleveland Browns are a 2-8 football thing, everything is going to be questioned about them, as well as critiqued. That is just what happens to poor football teams.
One recent question that surfaced is what exactly Mike Vrabel was doing on the sideline of the Browns in their 35-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Browns hired Vrabel as a coaching and personnel consultant.
On Monday, head coach Kevin Stefanski talked a bit about Vrabel and what he is doing with the team.
“I mean, Vrabes (Mike Vrabel) is involved in a lot of what we do,” said Stefanski. “He’s out there on home games, he was able to come to this one. He’s listening in on the conversations with us. He’s a great resource for me game day, Monday through Friday, so he will continue to do that.”
The biggest reason that questions were coming about around Vrabel was because it was said before the season that he would not be involved in the gameday operations. That is just not true now.
Cleveland brought in Vrabel to be another resource for the coaching staff. Vrabel has also been hands on in practice and is often seen being animated during that time. The former Buckeye was a successful NFL head coach with the Tennessee Titans until they needed to just go in a different direction. Vrabel is likely going to get a job coaching again in some form next season. Cleveland was more than okay with this being a one-year thing.
Cleveland is back at home in Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. The Browns have another tall task in front of them against the AFC North’s top team.
