The Green Bay Packers are not in their fans’ good books after failing to win back-to-back games as big favorites over the past two weeks: losing to a last-second field goal against the Cleveland Browns, and managing to secure an overtime draw against the Dallas Cowboys – also via field goal – as time expired.
The Packers‘ defense massively underformed on Sunday night, giving up 40 points to the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys offense that was missing star, All-Pro wideout, CeeDee Lamb. Much of the poor display – particularly towards of the end of the game – came down to the injury to defensive tackle, Devonte Wyatt.
At least according to star edge rusher, Micah Parsons.

Matt LaFleur Deals Out Information On Devonte Wyatt And Christian Watson
However, when Matt LaFleur spoke to the media on Tuesday, he certainly did not give the most optimistic update on the health of his key interior pass rusher and run defender.
When asked about his injury and playing status moving forward past the week 5 bye, the Packers‘ head coach replied, “I’d say week to week.
Another key player whose return Packers fans will be ogling with eager eyes is that of explosive wideout, Christian Watson.
Watson suffered a torn ACL back in January, which was set to keep him out for a big chunk of the 2025 season. Yet, LaFleur stated that the team could open up his 21 practice window and bring him off of IR following the week 5 bye.
“That’s been in discussion,” LaFleur said, before following on that they still had a few days to make a final decision on the matter.
What Could The Return Timelines Look Like For Watson And Wyatt?
Wyatt is recovering from a knee injury – which can obviously be very tenuous and force teams to exercise substantial caution.
The Packers face the Cincinnati Bengals after the bye week, which in their current miserable offensive form with both the run and passing game misfiring, could encourage Green Bay to let Wyatt sit out an extra week to not risk further injury aggravation.
However, neither the Browns nor the Cowboys were seen as great risks prior to them taking the game to the Packers over the past couple of weeks.
Watson is a different case; both in terms of his relationship to offense and the scale of his injury. Major knee ligament tears are always tough to recover from, and if not fully recuperated from can have lasting effects for the player and impact his future performances.
Moreover, although he would certainly be an excellent re-addition to the passing offense, especially in the deep passing game, his presence does not impact the heart of the defense like Wyatt’s does.
