A 40-40 tie has never happened in NFL history. Well, let’s correct that. On Sunday night, an NFL game ended in a 40-40 tie for the first time in NFL history when the Green Bay Packers knotted up the score as time expired in their game against the Dallas Cowboys. That’s an NFL Scorigami!

An NFL “Scorigami” is a final score that’s never happened before in the history of the league. Scorigami has been happening more and more as teams use analytics to go for two, offenses are scoring more points than ever, and sometimes weird stuff just happens.

This is the 1093rd unique score in NFL history and the second Scorigami this season. The Buffalo Bills’ thrilling 41-40 Week 1 game was also a Scorigami and also coincidentally on Sunday Night Football.

Often, the Scorigami is a result of a weird scoring play like we saw with the blocked extra point returned for two points in this game, but that didn’t factor into this particular Scorigami in the way you’d expect. Scoring a multiple of ten is usually a touchdown and a field goal, we just got there a little differently.

Our friends at Secret Base just so happen to be in the middle of an extensive series on Scorigami right now. You can watch the first three parts now and look for Part four coming soon. Here is Part 1:
