ARLINGTON, TX (WLUK) — In four games since AT&T Stadium opened up, the Green Bay Packers are a perfect four and oh in the heart of “Jerry World.” But after last weekend’s derailment of what many thought could be a perfect season, the green and gold are eager to get back on track. And it starts with stopping the fourth leading passer in the NFL this season, Dak Prescott.
“Gosh, Dak’s really dangerous,” said defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. “He throws some really nice deep passes and he’s accurate. He can still beat you with his feet. He’s strong. He’s hard to tackle. I think he’s a special one and it’ll be a challenge for us.”
“He’s a good quarterback, he’s a guy that can get the ball down the field,” said safety Xavier McKinney. “He creates explosive plays with his arm, and he can do it with his legs too. He doesn’t do it often, but I think that’s the one curveball that he kind of has.”
“He’s the leader of that offense,” said defensive lineman Colby Wooden. “You know they’re going to start with that run game. They just paid the guard, they got a new back they’re itching to show off and Micah’s coming back, which they say he doesn’t want to play the run or whatever, so we know they’re going to want to run the ball. We got to go out there, be physical, stop their run and play ball.”
The Packers have committed 28 penalties in just three games, fourteen of which in last week’s loss to the Browns. A record number that is expected to be corrected on Sunday night.
“I think for the most part it’s just our operation, especially offensively,” said quarterback Jordan Love. “Way too many penalties. It’s the pre-snap penalties that’s tough and those are things that are really inexcusable.”
“Knowing this game’s going to be on the road, having five false start penalties last game, we have got to do a much better job,” said head coach Matt LaFleur. “To me it comes down to the focus and concentration.”
And what’s a prime-time game without a little drama as of course Micah Parsons returns to Dallas for the first time since being traded about a month ago. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said this week there was a reason his team didn’t win the Super Bowl during Parsons’ tenure, pointing to knowing the gameplan to stop him.
“While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah,” Jones said while speaking with 105.3 The Fan. “As we know, we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl those years.”
Kickoff between the Packers and Cowboys is set for 7:20 p.m. on Sunday night.
