Injuries have once again sidelined Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. This time around, he’s in jeopardy of missing the majority of the season.

Burrow suffered a turf toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was replaced by Jake Browning, who had 241 passing yards, three total touchdowns and three interceptions in a 31-27 win. While the Bengals were happy about improving to 2-0, it’s tough to be excited about the future when Burrow isn’t part of it.

“There’s not a lot we can do right now for Joe other than I feel terrible for him because he put in all the work,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. “For him to have to go through this is the worst part of it. But as a football team, we just have to continue to move forward.”

Last week, the Bengals suffered a blowout loss to the Minnesota Vikings. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer reported that Burrow’s imaging showed a fully torn tendon, ligament and capsule in his foot.

“They’re saying three months, I don’t see three months being an actual timeline,” Glazer said, via the New York Post. “I think more so [Burrow has] a chance [to return] if they make the playoffs, but only because it’s Joe Burrow. Somebody else, I’d say no. But he has that Mamba Mentality, maybe yes. It’s such a difficult injury to return from.”

Will Burrow return this season?

Even though Glazer’s update on Burrow wasn’t promising, the star quarterback seems hellbent on playing this year.

Burrow posted a trio of photos on Instagram this Friday along with a message for his fans. The former No. 1 pick claims he’ll see everyone soon.

“This game will break your heart,” Burrow wrote. “See you soon.”

It certainly sounds like Burrow hasn’t given up on the 2025 season.

Last season, Burrow completed 70.6% of his passes last season for 4,918 yards with 43 touchdowns and nine interceptions. When healthy, he’s one of the top quarterbacks in the game.

Hopefully, Burrow will be medically cleared at some point this season. If not, we’ll have to wait until 2026 to see him back in action.
