BREAKING : 3 under-the-radar trade targets for Cowboys to save season after injuries

As if the Dallas Cowboys didn’t have enough to worry about following a 1-2 start that could have easily become 0-3 if a few lucky bounces didn’t go their way, some of this team’s locked-in starters have suffered injuries that threaten to take some of the bite out of this attack.

Not only is rookie right guard Tyler Booker in line to miss the next few games in what could be a crippling blow to the offensive line, but superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is working through a high ankle sprain that is going to force him to sit out the next few weeks. This roster needs an injection of talent, and it needs it fast.

Jerry Jones is never one to turn down a trade, irrespective of how good the Cowboys may be at any given moment. One of these three deals may come to fruition if Dallas thinks it needs to make a trade and save their season.

3 trade targets Cowboys can add to save season after injuries

3. CB Greg Newsome II, Cleveland Browns

Of the five players who have allowed the most opponent EPA when targeted this season, three of them (Kaiir Elam, Malik Hooker, Trevon Diggs) are Cowboys. Cleveland might make sense as a trade partner, as they have enough defensive quality to sacrifice one player and likely won’t make the playoffs this year.

Newsome has long been overshadowed on a surprisingly good Browns defense by names like Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward, but he is a feisty cornerback who would instantly become the top dog in a unit that has been frankly pitiful to begin the 2025 season.

2. IOL Cesar Ruiz, New Orleans Saints

The Cowboys are now down two starting offensive line, as Booker’s injury comes right after center Cooper Beebe was ruled out for an extended time. Even as Ruiz struggles on a bad New Orleans team, a change of scenery might do him wonders.

Ruiz’s versatility will allow him to play both center and right guard, and that could be the big selling point that tempts Dallas into making this trade. The Saints might be one of the worst teams in the league, making them a very willing and active partner if the Cowboys come prepared with trade assets.

1. WR Christian Kirk, Houston Texans

Kirk is on a Texans offense that is going nowhere fast after it appears they botched the hire of offensive coordinator Nick Caley. If Lamb’s injury is more severe than initially thought, flipping a late pick to Houston in exchange for Kirk might be a very prudent way to reinforce the roster.

Kirk is not what he was during his time with Arizona or the first two years of his Jacksonville contract, but he can still get open underneath and remains a sure-handed veteran. Kirk can be had without giving up tons of capital, which could make this trade much better than the Jonathan Mingo mistake.
