It wasn’t Travis Kelce’s best day.
Over the weekend, the day got worse for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
Kelce was fined $14,491 for “obscene gestures” during the 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 14.
It wasn’t Kelce’s best game after a goal-line drop changed the dynamic of the game, but it was his celebration of a 23-yard gain that drew the fine.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, earned their first win of the season Sunday with a 22-9 win over the New York Giants.
With the Chiefs leading 6-0 in the second quarter, cameras captured Chiefs coach Andy Reid getting into a verbal altercation with star tight end Travis Kelce. Reid even bumped Kelce’s shoulder as the two exchanged words.
Reid downplayed the confrontation, calling Kelce “passionate,” per ESPN.
“I love Travis’ passion, man,” Reid said. “I’m OK with that. We didn’t have enough of it in the second quarter. It wasn’t where we needed it to be, so, within reason, he knows when to back off the pedal and knows when to push it too.”

In the win, Patrick Mahomes was 22 of 37 for 224 yards and a touchdown pass to Tyquan Thornton. His vintage performance slinging the ball around helped the Chiefs avoid what would’ve been their first 0-3 start since 2011.
Russell Wilson threw two interceptions as the Giants fell to 0-3.
Fans chanted for Jaxson Dart, but the first-round pick got only a handful of snaps with Wilson attempting his team’s every pass.
