The Cincinnati Bengals failed to capitalize on another big passing game from star quarterback Joe Burrow.
The former LSU Tigers signal-caller went off for 356 passing yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions on 28-of-50 pass completions on Sunday, but the Bengals still suffered a 34-27 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
It’s the seventh loss of the season for the Bengals and their second in a row. It can be recalled that Burrow also put together a monster performance under center in Week 10, but Cincinnati still dropped that game, 34-27, against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. In the Ravens game, Burrow racked up 428 passing yards and four touchdowns against zero picks.
According to OptaSTATS, Burrow just became the first quarterback in the history of the NFL to absorb a loss despite putting up such performances.
“Joe Burrow is the first QB in NFL history to throw for 300+ yards with 3+ TD passes and 0 INT in back-to-back games but lose both in regulation,” posted OptaSTATS after Cincy’s loss to Los Angeles.
In any case, the Bengals have to identify and address their issues before it gets too late for them. They have their backs already against the wall as it relates to their playoff chances, as a 4-7 record at the moment is only good for third in the AFC North division standings and 10th in the AFC.
