BREAKING : Detroit Lions injury report lists Marcus Davenport out vs Ravens

Marcus Davenport injury update: Lions DE expected out vs Ravens

Dan Campbell said he didn’t expect Marcus Davenport to play against the Baltimore Ravens, and the Detroit Lions have made it official.

The Lions ruled Davenport out for Monday night’s game against the Ravens because of the chest injury he suffered in last week’s win over the Chicago Bears.

Davenport wore a sling on his right arm in the locker room this week, though Campbell said he does not believe the injury is season-ending.

“I think we’ll have a good idea of (his) timeline (for return) either today or tomorrow, just how long that will be,” Campbell said Saturday in Allen Park.

Report: Detroit Lions lose Marcus Davenport to 'serious' elbow injury

Davenport missed most of last season with a torn triceps. He re-signed in March.

He injured his chest on a sack of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Including Monday’s game, he will have missed 16 of 20 possible games with the Lions.

Lions DE depth chart

Al-Quadin-Muhammad and Pat O’Connor are expected to see bigger roles at the defensive spot opposite Aidan Hutchinson against Baltimore, and Tyrus Wheat could be active for the first time this season.

Hutchinson had his first sack since he broke his leg last October last week against the Bears, and Muhammad had one sack and five quarterback pressures. Wheat played in 20 games for the Dallas Cowboys the past two seasons. The Lions claimed Wheat and Tyler Lacy off waivers at the August roster-cut deadline.

“We like those guys and it’s one of the reasons we acquired them and those guys wanted to be here,” Campbell said. “And they’re getting opportunities — we’re getting everybody opportunities — to see what they can do. And yes, they fit right in with us, I think they understand our system. They’re not as polished as everybody else necessarily because they’ve been — our guys have been here, they’ve been in the system for a while. But yet, they’re getting it and every day they get better and better and better. So we like our options.”

Lions injury report vs Ravens

Left tackle Taylor Decker, who did not practice Saturday, was listed as questionable with a shoulder injury for Monday’s game against the Ravens.

Linebacker Jack Campbell (ankle), safety Kerby Joseph (knee) and cornerback D.J. Reed (knee) also are questionable for the Lions (1-1).

Linebacker Trevor Nowaske (elbow) and running back Sione Vaki (hamstring) do not have injury designations.
