UPDATE: Cleveland Browns make decision on kicker situation against Ravens

Are the Browns sticking with Andre Szmyt, or are they bringing in someone new?

Cleveland Browns make decision on kicker situation against Ravens - Yahoo Sports

There are quite a few kickers who the Cleveland Browns could try turning to after their disastrous outcome in Week 1, when rookie Andre Szmyt missed an extra point and a potential game-winning field goal from short distance. However, when head coach Kevin Stefanski talked to the media on Wednesday, he announced that for the Week 2 game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team is sticking with Szmyt.

Stefanski tried to talk up Szmyt, noting that he is young and they expect him to get better. It’s true that he has a good chance to make up for his first week misses against the Ravens, and one game shouldn’t define whether someone has simply “lost it,” like was the case with veteran Dustin Hopkins. With that said, the margin-of-error for Szmyt is also fairly slim. While the Browns are trying to give him a vote of confidence this week — including by not adding a kicker to the practice squad — if he costs the team again in Week 2, I’d expect another kicker to be brought in.
