The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into Week 2 with plenty to prove before their home opener as injuries continue to pile up at the wide receiver position.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters via Zoom on Monday about the potential of rookie wide receiver Jalen Royals being available for next Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Yeah, Jalen’s (Royals) done a good job with his rehab. Well, again we’ll just see how that ends up this week”, said Reid, “We’ve got a couple (of) days here that we’ve had, so guys are making good progress in that, but we’ll see, (we’ll) see where it rolls. If neither (Jalen Royals and Xavier Worthy) play, we’ve got the guys that we played with the other night that are good football players.”
Royals is recovering from a knee injury and finished the preseason with three catches for 14 yards. During his final college season, Royals was named second-team All-Mountain West. He led Utah State with 55 receptions, 834 receiving yards, and tallied six touchdowns while starting seven games.
