The Kansas City Chiefs kick off their 2025 NFL campaign against the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil this week.
That’s right, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid and co have travelled over 7,000 miles from Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri to begin their bid to reach Super Bowl LX.
The Super Bowl is set to be held at Levi’s Stadium – the home of the San Francisco 49ers – in California on February 8. 2026.
And the road to Santa Clara starts this week as the new NFL season gets up and running.
Where are the Chiefs playing in Week 1?
The Chiefs will contest the 2025 NFL Sao Paulo game against the Chargers on Friday at Corinthians Arena in Brazil.
It will mark the second NFL regular season game to be contested in the country, following last year’s match-up between the Eagles and Packers, which was also in Week 1.
The event is part of the NFL’s annual International Games slate.
With their appearance in Sao Paulo, the Chiefs will have played regular season international games in four different countries – Brazil, England, Mexico and Germany – more countries than any other team in the NFL.
Kansas City’s game against the Chargers in Sao Paulo will stream on YouTube and NFL+.

Will Taylor Swift attend Kansas City’s Week 1 game in Brazil?
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift made worldwide headlines on the eve of the new season, when they announced their engagement in an Instagram post that nearly broke the internet.
The couple have since been seen together at Arrowhead Stadium, where Swift has been spotted plenty of times in the past, and even watched the college football game between Kelce’s alma mater Cincinnati Bearcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers last week.
Swift even credited ‘Big Red’ Andy Reid for the role he played in setting the couple up.
“I think it was like Andy was vouching, I think it was my relatives, my cousins, they were like, ‘Please, please, please, he’s amazing,'” Swift said on the New Heights podcast. “There were friends who were like, ‘He’s actually an amazing guy, he’s so great.’
“There was a lot of kind of people whispering in my ear about you. Actually, that’s not normal. There are people just willing to go to bat for you. ‘You don’t understand this guy’s incredible.’”
For the first time as his fiancee, Swift is expected to travel to Sao Paulo to watch Kelce’s season-opener.
According to Brazil’s LeoDiasTV, via X account The Taylor Swift Updates, the music icon will be cheering on her fiance from a luxury box at the Neo Quimica Arena.
What is the Chiefs’ record with Swift in attendance?
Swift, whose family are Philadelphia Eagles fans, was first spotted supporting her then-beau at Arrowhead in September 2023, when the Chiefs hosted the Chicago Bears.
Since then, the pop sensation can often be found watching home games from the Kelce family’s private suite, with the NFL cameras never failing to identify her on multiple occasions throughout their broadcast.
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” Swift told TIME magazine in December 2023 when being announced as Person of the Year. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she added. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p***ing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
A lot of the time she can be seen watching Chiefs games with Kelce’s mom Donna, as well as Mahomes’ wife Brittany.
But, there have been multiple occasions where Swift has also brought in a foray of celebrity guests, including WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, actress Blake Lively, rapper Ice Spice, and even Sabrina Carpenter.
As of the end of the 2024 season, Swift has been in attendance at 23 Chiefs games, both at home and on the road, with the Chiefs having a winning record of 19-4.
Swift has also attended two Super Bowls, with Kelce and Kansas City winning Super Bowl LVIII against the 49ers in 2024, but falling very short to the Eagles at Super Bowl LIX last February.
With the Chiefs appearing to have such an advantage when Kelce’s fiancee is in the building – and it’s not just because Arrowhead provides a major home advantage due to it being dubbed the loudest outdoor venue in the world – the Kansas City faithful will be hoping that Swift can sprinkle some luck on the team in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and kick their 2025 campaign off emphatically.
