Green Bay Packers: Insider Reveals Locker Room Situation After Trading Popular Kenny Clark

For nine seasons, Kenny Clark dedicated his professional career to the Green Bay Packers. He was ready for his 10th season in Packers uniform, but that all changed because of a blockbuster trade that continues to be talked about and will be for a long time.

Last week, the veteran nose tackle was sent by Green Bay to the Dallas Cowboys via a trade that netted the Packers superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. Apart from Clark, the Packers also traded a couple of future first-round picks (2026 and 2027) to the Cowboys as part of the trade.

Clark made his mark on the Green Bay Packers’ locker room

Clark was more than just a solid player during his tenure with the Packers. He was a consummate pro who made a great impression in the locker room, which is also why many were left wondering about the impact of his Green Bay departure on his now-former Packers teammates. In his latest inbox piece on the Packers’ website, Wes Hodkiewicz tackled the same inquiry from a curious fan.

Here’s the question from the Packers fan:

Hi guys. I was just wondering what effect trading away one of the most popular leaders on the team has on the locker room. I can imagine there is excitement for what Parsons brings to the team but sadness for losing a long-term teammate. But in your experience can there be anger and resentment towards the incoming player or the organization? Or does everyone just accept it’s just business?

The response from Hodkiewicz:

Gutekunst was asked the same question. Clark is an unquestioned leader of this football team. I wrote as recently as two weeks ago about how Clark spoke up in the post-game locker room after the loss to the New York Jets. At the same time, you gotta give something to get something and I think the locker room gets that.

Clark will surely be missed in Green Bay’s locker room in part because of his veteran presence, which will now be of service to the Cowboys of the NFC East.

In 140 games (126 starts) with the Packers, Clark recorded 35.0 sacks and 417 combined tackles, while earning three Pro Bowl nods.
