Dak Prescott Reveals His Thoughts on the Micah Parsons Trade

A few interesting quotes came out of a recent media session with Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. The $240 million man became the highest-paid QB in NFL history just last year. He surpassed Jordan Love while doing so, though Love did embarrass his team two years ago in the playoffs.

Packers fans believed that loss would be enough for Jerry Jones to prevent Micah Parsons from being traded there, but that proved not to be the case. Moving forward, Parsons will make $188M in his next four-seasons as a Packer.

Regardless, Parsons had plenty of time with Prescott as the two were focal points of the Cowboys roster. With each headlining their respective side of the ball, Prescott opened up about losing the team’s top defensive star, if not top player in general.

“I definitely didn’t think he was going to get traded,” Prescott said. “But just with the way their negotiations went down, obviously to some extent, hell, y’all were asking me questions, it seemed like it got personal on their ends, so that’s why I wasn’t surprised.”

He added, “If nothing had been done, we’d sit here and y’all still would’ve been asking me whether he was playing in a couple days or when he was going to be playing. That would’ve been a lot more of a headache and distraction than getting a solution to it.”

Green Bay Trends Upwards While Dallas Continues to Fall

Kenny Clark is a solid player, but he’s no Micah Parsons. The four-time Pro Bowler comes to Green Bay at 26-years-old. By the time he’s done with his contract, he’ll be just one year older than the age Clark was when he was traded.

For a team that focuses on young players, Green Bay got one of the best in the league. There aren’t many 26-year-olds, let alone defensive players in the league that can alter the game like Parsons does. His negotiations with the Cowboys fell flat, and a deal was finally completed after weeks of speculation.

Prescott’s answer is a mature one, especially knowing how much of a headache it would’ve been. The Cowboys have the reigning Super Bowl Champions to prepare for, which is already enough to have on their plate. Now that the Parsons situation has a permanent solution.

With a new head coach, the Cowboys plan to make a statement in the 2025 season. That’s going to be much easier said than done, especially when Parsons and the Packers come to town in Week 4. Other than that, both teams eagerly await their Week 1 openers in one week or less.
