Fans were shocked to find out that the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were burglarized within hours of each other between Oct. 6 and Oct. 7. It was TMZ who first broke the news, reporting that the Kelce incident, in particular, took place during the Chiefs’ Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
It was also reported that $20,000 in cash was stolen from Kelce’s home, as well as some precious memorabilia from his career.
The silver lining, though, is that nobody got hurt. Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was in attendance for the Saints game, reportedly did not take any chances and decided to spend the night in a Kansas City hotel after the burglary.
According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, the couple has since “taken drastic measures” to fortify their security. This includes “a more advanced in-home security system” as well as “reinforced locks” for Kelce’s $6 million Leawood, Kansas estate.
In the same report, the Daily Mail’s insider also revealed how Swift’s family feels about all this. According to the source, “Swift and her family are said to feel safe when she is with the NFL champ.”
“Taylor feels safe when she is with Travis, and he is by her side,” said the anonymous insider. “Her family feels safe when he is with her.
“And they will both feel incredibly safe at his house now because they also have around the clock armed security personnel to ensure nothing like this can ever happen again. They are sparing no expense.”
It is clear that both Kelce and Swift are taking extreme measures here. This does not come as a huge shock considering how a home burglary can be a very traumatic experience for anyone — perhaps even more so for arguably the most high-profile couple on the planet right now.
It’s good to know that Swift’s family’s perception of Kelce has not changed after the incident, at least in terms of how secure they feel whenever the “Eras Tour” headliner is in the presence of the All-Pro tight end.
