Packers Predicted to Trade Romeo Doubs to Super Bowl Contender With Aim of Fixing Crowded WR Room

Matthew Golden could change everything for the Green Bay Packers. The team’s decision to draft the wide receiver with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft created a fascinating roster puzzle. With an already crowded receiver room even more packed, someone must go. The question isn’t whether the Packers will trade a receiver before the season starts, but which one will find a new home.

Why Could Romeo Doubs Be the Odd Man Out in Green Bay?

The Packers’ top receiver options now include Golden, Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs. However, it’s Doubs who appears most likely to find his way onto a different team. Bleacher Report explored potential trades for each NFL team and identified Doubs as Green Bay’s most logical trade candidate.

In their projected scenario, the Packers would send Doubs to the Los Angeles Chargers for a 2026 seventh-round pick. While this move might not seem significant from the outside, it would clear valuable roster space while adding a future draft asset.

Doubs has played three NFL seasons with average results at best. His most productive campaign came in 2023 when he caught 59 passes for 674 yards and eight touchdowns. At this point in his career, most teams view him as no more than a WR3 or WR4 option on their depth chart.

The Chargers present an intriguing destination for Doubs, given their recent investments at the position. They drafted Ladd McConkey in 2024 and Tre Harris in the most recent draft, bringing Keenan Allen back into the fold via free agency. Doubs would likely slot into the team’s WR4 spot for the upcoming 2025-26 season, which explains why the Chargers would only part with a seventh-round pick to acquire him.

How Will Jordan Love Handle the Pressure This Season?

The Packers built momentum last season with an 11-6 regular season record and a playoff berth. However, their wild-card round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles left the organization wanting more. Many questions emerged about Green Bay during the offseason, particularly regarding quarterback Jordan Love.

Entering his third season as the starter, the Packers and their fans expect Love to take another significant step forward. In 15 games last season, Love threw for 25 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He battled injuries throughout most of the 2024-25 campaign, but still needed to perform better when healthy.

The NFC North presents a formidable challenge, led by the Detroit Lions, who should remain competitive again. Additionally, the Minnesota Vikings are coming off a playoff appearance, while the Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson as their head coach and should be more competitive. Nothing will come easy for the Packers this season, as they’ll rely heavily on Love and the offense to secure another postseason berth.
